NewsSSESSMENTS: July Shipment PE Offers To India Gain Cold Responses From Buyers, PP Offers Remain Scarce

Author: SSESSMENTS

An Indian trader informed SSESSMENTS.COM that July shipment PE offers of the Middle East and South Korea origin gain cold responses from buyers, while import PP offers to the country remain scarce. As compared to June shipment, import Saudi and Qatari LDPE Film are available between $40-50/ton higher. While for LDPE Coating from a South Korean producer, the offers are $60/ton higher compared to the same period. However, these import PE offers are deemed too high by buyers; as such, at the time of publication, no deals concluded yet. Moreover, most buyers are still waiting for other foreign suppliers to announce new offers. Meanwhile, for HDPE Film, no fresh offers received yet by the trader.

Likewise, no fresh offers received for import PP cargoes to date. The trader opined to SSESSMENTS.COM that the upcoming import PP offers from foreign suppliers will be firm. However, if the new PP offers are more than $900/ton-level, the offers would not be workable as local PP cargoes are available at a lower level. Demand-wise, healthy PE and PP demand in India mostly coming from the packaging sector. While demand from the houseware and automotive sector is still sluggish, which leads to slow demand for PP Injection and PP Copolymer grades.
