Import ABS, PS offers on LC at sight, CIF Malaysia Main Port basis
A Malaysian-based distributor contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM disclosed fresh import Taiwanese ABS and PS offers to the country. On the week commencing July 13, a Taiwanese producer has announced August shipment offers to the Malaysia market. The distributor notified that the offers for ABS Injection were hiked by $30/ton, while offers for GPPS Injection and HIPS Injection remain stable. All compared to July shipment offers. To date, the distributor has managed to sell some volume to the customers; mostly for ABS Injection since customers are already convinced with the quality of the Taiwanese producer’s materials despite the premium prices.
The distributor also mentioned to SSESSMENTS.COM that there will be more Chinese companies will relocate their factories to Southeast Asia, including Malaysia. Taking into account the trade truce between China and the US; which prevents US buyers from taking Chinese goods due to high tariffs. Besides, wages in China have been increasing for the past few years, resulting in higher production costs. If the projects are moved to Malaysia, later, lots of traders will surely prefer the materials from the Taiwanese producer. Therefore, the distributor foresees good demand following this project. Unfortunately, there are still no further details regarding this project so far.
