Import ABS, PS offers on LC at sight, CIF Malaysia Main Port basis
As noted, adjustments on import Taiwanese ABS and PS offers received unfavorable responses from Malaysia market. A local distributor in Malaysia informed SSESSMENTS.COM that a Taiwanese producer adjusted up offers for ABS and PS for July shipment to the country. Import offers for Taiwanese ABS Injection and HIPS Injection to Malaysia market moved up by $50/ton and $30/ton, respectively. Meanwhile, offers for GPPS Injection did not change as the producer has stopped the GPPS production and only sold the leftover stock.
As inquiry is null as demand in Malaysia remains sluggish, the distributor is sharing their thought to SSESSMENTS.COM wondering why the producer continues to increase offers. Moreover, market players having an opinion that producer’s offers are always higher than competitors' so that customers are not very interested. Considering this, the distributor plans not going to take any PS cargoes from the producer this time.
Previously, the producer has stopped producing GPPS Injection and some grades of HIPS Injection since the end of May. SSESSMENTS.COM noted that distributor and some customers who used this specific Taiwanese PS cargoes are now looking for a new supplier.
