Import ABS, PS offers on LC at sight, CIF Malaysia Main Port basis
A local distributor in Malaysia informed SSESSMENTS.COM that a Taiwanese producer adjusted up import ABS and PS offers up to three digits. According to the distributor, compared to May shipment, June shipment offers for Taiwanese ABS Injection and HIPS Injection to Malaysia market moved up by $180/ton and $50/ton, respectively. While offers for GPPS Injection remain stable. At the time of publication, no deals concluded yet as demand in Malaysia remains stagnant compared to before Eid Al-Fitr holiday. Moreover, market players opined that ABS and PS demand might be getting worse as some manufacturers got orders cancellation from the end-consumers. Considering this, the distributor plans to monitor market development more in the meantime.
Previously, the producer has stopped producing GPPS Injection and some grades of HIPS Injection since the end of last month due to the maintenance shutdown at the company’s end, which expected to last until February next year. However, as stated to SSESSMENTS.COM, the producer still has sufficient inventory and will keep offering until September citing that the shutdown would not affect PS supply and buyers could purchase cargoes without any volume requirements.
